Who you are

You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, and you bring over 7 years of experience in machine learning product development, with at least 2 years focused on content recommendation or advertising personalization. You have a proven track record of building and deploying large-scale recommendation and personalization systems in production environments.

Your expertise in Python and proficiency in at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras allows you to design and implement complex models effectively. You possess a high level of statistical expertise, enabling you to conduct experiments and modeling with confidence. You are self-driven and capable of leading core projects in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong product sense.

You are comfortable communicating in English and excel in collaborative settings, working closely with product and engineering teams to develop innovative solutions. Your ability to analyze OTT subscriber behavior data and derive actionable insights is a key asset in your role.

Desirable

A master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field would be advantageous. Experience in successfully delivering high-quality products in software engineering is a plus, as is familiarity with model training, evaluation, fine-tuning, and fairness considerations in machine learning.

What you'll do

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Coupang Play, you will be responsible for building the next-generation content recommendation and advertising personalization systems. You will define data requirements and collaborate with engineering and business teams to ensure effective data collection and validation. Utilizing the collected data, you will develop features necessary for model training and employ scientific tools and coding to train models.

You will integrate model inference capabilities into production systems, setting requirements for testing in production environments, including A/B testing, and analyze results to derive performance insights. Your role will involve continuous improvement of existing models and the development of new ones, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our users.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience on Coupang Play, leveraging various data sources and machine learning tools to create a robust content recommendation framework. Your contributions will directly impact how users discover and enjoy content on our platform.
