SpaceX is seeking a Principal RF Software Engineer for the Starshield team to drive program-level decisions on RF system designs and develop advanced RF capabilities. You'll work with RF and DSP engineers to support national security efforts using SpaceX's Starlink technology.
You have extensive experience in RF software engineering, with a strong background in designing and implementing RF systems for large-scale applications. Your expertise includes working with RF test benches and utilizing tools such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers to validate custom RF designs. You thrive in collaborative environments, effectively communicating with cross-functional teams including RF engineers, DSP engineers, and hardware engineers to drive innovative solutions. You are adept at researching novel approaches to complex problems and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
You possess a deep understanding of RF communications and remote sensing technologies, particularly in the context of low earth orbit satellite systems. Your analytical skills enable you to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that designs meet stringent operational requirements. You are passionate about contributing to national security efforts and are motivated by the challenge of developing cutting-edge technologies that support government initiatives.
Experience with satellite communications and familiarity with government contracting processes would be advantageous. A background in software development, particularly in programming languages relevant to RF applications, will further enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team.
As a Principal RF Software Engineer on the Starshield team, you will lead program-level decisions regarding RF system designs, ensuring that they align with the strategic goals of SpaceX and its national security objectives. You will research and develop innovative solutions for unique large-scale satellite RF systems, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in RF communications. Your role will involve designing, building, and validating RF test benches that fully characterize custom RF designs, utilizing advanced testing equipment such as vector network analyzers, vector signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of engineers to iterate rapidly from design to operational capability, applying the SpaceX mindset of innovation and efficiency. Your contributions will directly impact the development of RF capabilities for proliferated communications and remote sensing, playing a crucial role in the success of the Starshield program.
