Overview

sweetgreen is seeking a Director of Construction and Facilities to oversee the construction and maintenance of their restaurant portfolio. This leadership role requires expertise in construction best practices and collaboration with various teams to ensure operational efficiency.

Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in construction management and facilities oversight, ideally with a background in the restaurant or retail industry. Your leadership skills enable you to manage teams effectively, ensuring that all projects align with brand standards and regulatory compliance. You are adept at resource planning and have a proven track record of improving operational efficiency through innovative construction practices. You understand the importance of collaboration across departments, working closely with design, development, and asset management teams to streamline processes and enhance asset resilience.

Desirable

Experience in capital planning and reinvestment strategies is a plus, as is familiarity with sustainability practices in construction. You are comfortable navigating complex projects and can balance multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on quality and compliance. Your ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, from operations to upper management, sets you apart as a leader in your field.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing construction standards and programs that support sweetgreen's restaurant expansion. You will lead a team of facilities managers, ensuring that all building systems are maintained and compliant with regulations. Your focus will be on delivering the pipeline build-out for profitable restaurant expansion, which includes improving unit economics by reducing capital expenditures and increasing return on invested capital. You will collaborate with the asset management team to co-author the capital reinvestment plan, ensuring it aligns with the needs of both the teams and customers.

You will manage maintenance and repair operations for all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance. Your leadership will be crucial in driving down build-out times and accelerating growth, as you implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency. You will also work closely with operations to build strong partnerships, representing the needs of operators and guests in all construction and facilities initiatives.

What we offer

At sweetgreen, we value our employees and offer a supportive work environment that encourages professional growth. You will have the opportunity to lead impactful projects that contribute to our mission of providing healthy food options. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with a culture that promotes collaboration and innovation. Join us in shaping the future of our restaurant portfolio and making a difference in the communities we serve.
