Google is seeking a Staff Hardware Systems Design Engineer to lead hardware systems projects focused on Machine Learning and AI. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and ready for production. This role requires a strong background in hardware design and technical leadership.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, along with at least 6 years of experience in hardware systems design. If you hold an advanced degree, 5 years of experience will suffice. You have a proven track record in technical leadership, with at least 3 years of experience in this area. Your expertise includes power circuit design and signal integrity, which are crucial for the role.
Preferred qualifications include a PhD in a relevant field and 10 years of experience in hardware design and bring-up. You are familiar with industry standards and practices, particularly in PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, and SPI. Your experience positions you well to contribute to innovative hardware solutions that meet the demands of modern data centers.
As a Staff Hardware Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing hardware systems for Machine Learning and AI projects. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with product teams to ensure that project goals are met and working closely with ASIC/FPGA, software, and verification teams to validate features effectively. You will also engage with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable and ready for volume production.
You will lead the bring-up, validation, and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, ensuring that hardware solutions are deployed successfully in data centers. Your role will involve driving system development from concept through production, leading debug and root cause analysis of deployed systems, and working cross-functionally with various teams including Hardware, Software, Power, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Signal Integrity, Manufacturing, and external vendors.
