SpaceX is hiring an Apprentice Automation & Control Systems Technician to support the build-up and maintenance of data and control systems. You'll work with various instrumentation and wiring systems in McGregor, TX.
You are an entry-level technician with a keen interest in automation and control systems. You have a foundational understanding of electrical systems and are eager to learn and grow in a hands-on environment. You enjoy collaborating with engineers and fellow technicians to troubleshoot and solve complex problems. You are detail-oriented and capable of following instructions meticulously while also being proactive in identifying areas for improvement. You are comfortable using measuring instruments and have a basic understanding of wiring and electrical components.
Experience with data acquisition systems or instrumentation is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with safety protocols in an industrial setting will be beneficial. A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes is essential.
As an Apprentice Automation & Control Systems Technician at SpaceX, you will support the installation and maintenance of data and control systems critical to our operations. You will install and terminate wiring to pad instrumentation and data acquisition systems, ensuring that all connections are secure and functioning correctly. You will perform continuity checks and troubleshoot wiring errors using measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and voltage calibrators. Your role will involve collaborating closely with design engineers to address any failures or issues that arise from test data, contributing to the overall reliability and safety of our systems.
You will also be responsible for generating work planning documents and instructions, which will help streamline processes and improve efficiency. As you gain experience, you will lead more complex projects with minimal oversight, allowing you to develop your skills and take on greater responsibilities. You will work with shop assembly equipment and hand tools, building intricate cable assemblies and modifying electrical conveyances as needed. Your contributions will play a vital role in achieving safe and economical access to space.
