Oscar is seeking a Director of Medical Economics to join their Actuarial team. You'll focus on synthesizing and communicating medical cost trends to executive leadership and external analysts. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills.

Who you are

You have a strong background in medical economics or a related field, with experience in financial planning and analysis. Your ability to translate complex data into clear narratives is essential, as you will be bridging the gap between technical actuarial teams and corporate finance. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively present findings to the Board of Directors and executive leadership. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable working with cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives.

Desirable

Experience in the health insurance industry is a plus, as is familiarity with actuarial principles and practices. You are adept at using data visualization tools to enhance your presentations and storytelling. A background in consulting or corporate finance would also be beneficial, as you will be acting as a specialized internal consultant within the Medical Economics function.

What you'll do

As the Director of Medical Economics, you will play a pivotal role in supporting quarterly earnings and executive reporting. You will synthesize and interpret medical cost trends, providing insights that inform strategic decision-making. Your work will involve collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Medical Economics to ensure alignment on financial planning and reporting processes. You will also be responsible for developing narratives that communicate the company's financial story to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and external analysts.

In this role, you will lead initiatives to enhance the understanding of medical economics within the organization, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. You will engage with various departments, including actuarial, finance, and investor relations, to ensure that medical cost trends are accurately represented and understood. Your ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner will be key to your success in this position.
