Job Description

Who you are

You have a solid background in mechanical engineering, with experience in designing and integrating mechanical systems. Your expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks allows you to create detailed designs and prototypes that prioritize usability and safety. You are comfortable collaborating with clinical trial participants and cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, electrical, and BCI engineers. You understand the importance of user-centered design and are passionate about developing innovative solutions that can significantly impact users' lives.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can take ownership of projects from concept to production. Your ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders ensures that everyone is aligned on project goals and timelines. You are detail-oriented and have a strong problem-solving mindset, which helps you navigate the challenges of developing cutting-edge technology in the field of robotics and brain-computer interfaces.

Desirable

Experience with surgical robotics or automation is a plus, as is familiarity with microfabrication techniques. You may have worked on projects that involve human-robot interaction, giving you insights into the complexities of designing systems that interact seamlessly with users. A background in neuroscience or biomedical engineering would also be beneficial, as it would enhance your understanding of the user needs in this innovative field.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineer at Neuralink, you will be responsible for designing and producing hardware solutions for our assistive robotic arm. This includes integrating mechanical and electrical components to create a cohesive system that meets the needs of our clinical trial participants. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure that the robotic arm is not only functional but also safe and user-friendly.

You will have the opportunity to work on various projects, including brain-computer interface devices and surgical robotics. Your role will involve conducting tests and evaluations to ensure that the designs meet the required specifications and performance standards. You will also participate in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas and solutions that can advance our technology and improve user experience.

In addition to your engineering responsibilities, you will engage with clinical trial participants to gather feedback and insights that can inform future designs. Your ability to empathize with users and understand their needs will be crucial in developing products that truly enhance their quality of life. You will also have the chance to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team culture that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
