Overview

Wikimedia is seeking a Senior Program Officer to implement regional funding programs for Wikimedian communities in Northern & Western Europe. This role involves managing grant portfolios and aligning funding strategies with community needs.

Who you are

You have a strong background in program management, particularly in the non-profit sector, and are familiar with grantmaking processes. Your experience includes analyzing community needs and geopolitical contexts to shape funding strategies effectively. You understand the importance of knowledge equity and are committed to supporting underrepresented communities. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across teams. You are detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

Desirable

Experience working with Wikimedia or similar organizations is a plus. Familiarity with community engagement practices and funding mechanisms will enhance your ability to succeed in this role. A background in research or data analysis can also be beneficial in understanding regional trends and patterns.

What you'll do

In this role, you will implement the Community Resources grantmaking strategy, focusing on the needs of Wikimedian communities in Northern & Western Europe. You will analyze regional and global patterns to inform funding rationales and priorities, ensuring that the grant portfolio aligns with the movement's goals. You will design program activities in collaboration with colleagues to achieve significant, scalable impact. Additionally, you will manage the regional grant portfolio, monitoring its implementation and ensuring it meets strategic criteria and impact goals. Leading annual grant planning will be a key responsibility, requiring you to engage with various stakeholders to gather insights and feedback.
