We are seeking an Systems Development Engineer to join our Fleet Automation Software Team (FAST) within the Hardware Engineering Services organization. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining services, systems and operational infrastructure that enable delivery of hardware and firmware to AWS data centers globally. You will collaborate with cross-functional product vertical and firmware development teams to solve challenging technical problems and drive system designs that shape the future of our infrastructure. You will stand up operational infrastructure to manage services and systems at scale across multiple geographical regions.
As a SysDev in FAST, you’ll have a front-row seat to innovation in Hardware Engineering Services, contributing to the development and scaling of hardware and firmware deployment orchestration systems. Your work will enable the seamless delivery of low-level software/firmware to meet the increasing demands of our customers.

- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems
- Experience with CI/CD systems, testing, issue root causing and coverage analysis.
- Working Knowledge of server component hardware
- Working Knowledge of operating system fundamentals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with developers and partners

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
