Babbel is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer for a 1-year parental leave cover. You'll collaborate with a tech team to build high-quality applications and features using JavaScript, TypeScript, and AWS. This role requires strong experience in full-stack development.
You have significant experience in full-stack development, particularly in fast Build-Measure-Learn cycles, which allows you to deliver value iteratively. Your strong sense for good API design and third-party API integrations ensures that the applications you build are robust and user-friendly. Proficient knowledge in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential, as these are the primary languages you will use to develop applications. Additionally, having experience with Python is a nice-to-have that will enhance your versatility in the role. You are familiar with AWS and NoSQL databases, which are crucial for maintaining the rich ecosystem of applications and services at Babbel. Your expertise with AI tooling and infrastructure, including LLM-powered development tools, will be beneficial as you contribute to innovative projects.
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Babbel, you will shape the future of language learning by building and maintaining high-quality applications and features. You will take ownership of the architectural design of the systems you work on, constantly proposing improvements to enhance performance and resilience. Collaborating cross-functionally on feature design and architectural decisions will be a key part of your role, as you assess technical debt and ensure that the systems you own are healthy and perform well. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and solving operational events, such as bugs and incidents, ensuring a seamless user experience. Your contributions will drive the evolution of engineering practices within the team, as you focus on continuous learning and improvement. You will work closely with motivated colleagues in a small team, contributing to all phases of development—from proposing and implementing solutions to validating them through prototypes. Your ability to maintain a good overview of the overall technology stack and infrastructure will be essential in this role.
At Babbel, you will find a flexible and stimulating environment that encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing. We value continuous learning and improvement, providing opportunities for you to broaden your expertise and grow within the company. You will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to shaping the future of language learning, and your work will have a direct impact on our users. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we believe in the potential of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
