Job Description

The people here at Apple don’t just create products — they create the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries! It’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. The Video Engineering group is looking for a software developer with a strong emphasis on industrial automation. This position will require collaboration with multiple teams (hardware, machine learning, and user studies). We work on multiple, related projects requiring creativity and ingenuity. You will be able to demonstrate your skills and expertise as we work together to innovate. You’ll be working on targeted automation projects and initiatives that span hardware and software. You’ll have an opportunity to own a domain of expertise, produce tools that directly contribute towards supporting testing the quality of next-generation Apple products, and continuously grow through facing new challenges. We are an unusual team in how we operate, and we are looking for creative engineers and anyone with room to grow to join us. We are unusual in the sense that our initial work was filling a gap between Algorithm teams, Quality Assurance (QA), and User Studies. Our team performed well and grew, so we could continue to be an effective resource to other Video Engineering teams and help bridge the gap. You will design robust and modular automation systems across both hardware and software to enhance engineering efficiency. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable solutions with minimal regressions or user-impacting bugs. The role requires strong debugging skills, including the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement effective fixes. The candidate is expected to leverage existing tools and services developed by other teams within Apple to ensure seamless integration. Clear communication is crucial, as the candidate will provide written documentation and in-person guidance to facilitate user adoption. Responsibilities also include developing and executing both manual and automated test plans across a variety of hardware and software configurations, along with documenting test cases and the corresponding test code. Close collaboration with cross-functional teams is critical to ensure complete test coverage and deliver a flawless end-user experience.
