Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Development Operations team to guide the development of future versions of the Raptor engine. You'll be responsible for system-level ownership and ensuring compatibility with the vehicle. This role requires a detailed knowledge of propulsion systems and excellent planning skills.

You have a strong background in propulsion engineering, with experience in guiding the development of complex systems. Your expertise allows you to define requirements and develop operations critical to engine functionality. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You are detail-oriented and capable of leading the engine development cycle, from test planning to anomaly resolution. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about advancing aerospace technology. You understand the importance of system-level ownership and are committed to ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.

Desirable

Experience with full-flow staged combustion engines or similar propulsion systems is a plus. Familiarity with testing and verification processes in aerospace engineering will enhance your candidacy. A background in working with hardware, fluids, and operations will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Propulsion Engineer at SpaceX, you will own system-level processes critical to the Raptor engine's overall function. You will establish hardware and operational requirements, working closely with other engineers to ensure that interfacing systems meet these requirements. Your role will involve detailed test planning and data review, providing on-console test support and resolving any anomalies that arise during testing. You will lead the development cycle for future versions of the Raptor engine, ensuring that all systems are compatible with the Starship vehicle. You will collaborate with teams across various disciplines, including hardware, fluids, operations, and software, to achieve project goals. Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars.
