SpaceX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop high-fidelity simulation software for their flight systems. Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing simulation software for complex systems. Your expertise in C++ and Python allows you to create high-fidelity simulations that are essential for aerospace applications. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy tackling challenging engineering problems. You are committed to maintaining high standards of software quality and performance, ensuring that the simulation software meets the rigorous demands of SpaceX's flight systems. You have a strong understanding of physics and engineering principles, which enables you to effectively model complex systems such as fluids and electronics. You are proactive in seeking improvements and innovations in software design and implementation.

Desirable

Experience with real-time simulation software and a background in aerospace engineering would be advantageous. Familiarity with multi-body physics systems and fluid dynamics is a plus. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Simulations team, you will design, develop, and maintain high-fidelity real-time simulation software used for all SpaceX vehicles. You will collaborate with various engineering groups to build and enhance simulation models that support critical flight systems. Your role will involve developing prototypes to validate key design concepts and quantify technical constraints, ensuring that the simulation software is reliable and performs optimally. You will work closely with simulation software users to gather feedback and develop new features that enhance the functionality and usability of the software. You will also be responsible for improving the performance and reliability of existing simulation software, ensuring it meets the high standards expected at SpaceX. Your contributions will directly impact the success of current and future missions, including those involving Falcon, Falcon Heavy, Dragon, Starlink, and Starship.
