Senior Counsel, AI

Roblox is looking for a Senior AI Counsel to join our IP Legal team. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, guiding policy development, governance, and strategy, and advising teams within the business on a broad array of AI issues. 

You must have experience advising on current legal and regulatory framework and risks related to AI, including with respect to privacy, security, licensing, product development, and intellectual property. You will

• ​Help guide Roblox’s AI strategy & initiatives.
• Support implementation and management of AI governance policies and frameworks to ensure responsible AI deployment, ethical data usage, and regulatory compliance.
• Interpret and monitor global AI regulations, advising on risks, trends, and strategic compliance initiatives, in connection with Roblox’s regulatory and compliance teams.
• Supply specialized AI guidance to the Product Counsel team during product development.
• Liaise with stakeholders across operational, product, and business teams on AI legal issues, risks, and mitigations.
• Facilitate management of comprehensive, AI use-case evaluation processes.
• Analyze, draft, and negotiate AI-related contractual provisions.

You have

• 9+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a consumer-facing technology company.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• A strong working knowledge of AI legal issues, including those related to intellectual property and publicity rights, data and privacy issues, consumer protection, and other relevant laws and regulations.
• A history of evaluating and negotiating AI-related licenses and other agreements. 
• Previous experience counseling and collaborating with business, product, governance, internal legal and security teams in the tech industry.
• A track record of educating internal stakeholders, translating complex concepts, and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
• Desire and ability to work well with a growing team and aptitude to seek responsibility and work autonomously.
• Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting.
