Overview

Amazon is hiring a Systems Development Engineer to support the development and management of AWS services. You'll work with automation and operations in Sydney. This role requires a strong background in cloud infrastructure.

Who you are

You have a solid background in systems development and engineering, with experience in automation and operations. You are familiar with AWS services and have a keen interest in solving complex distributed systems challenges. Your ability to adapt and improve operations management systems will be crucial in this role. You are also capable of obtaining an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance, which is essential for this position.

You thrive in environments where you can support the refinement of system requirements and participate in the development of operability-related features. Your experience includes developing application and system management tools that enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts. You understand the importance of system health monitoring, diagnostics, and repair, and you are eager to contribute to self-healing automation processes.

Desirable

Experience with cloud computing and a strong understanding of security solutions for cloud services will set you apart. Familiarity with customer support in a cloud environment is a plus, as is any experience in managing large-scale systems.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be part of the AWS Utility Computing organization, where you will support the development and management of various services, including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and more. You will work closely with your team to ensure that AWS's global infrastructure is robust and efficient. Your responsibilities will include refining system requirements and developing features that enhance system operability.

You will also be tasked with creating and improving application and system management tools that streamline operations. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that meet customer needs and improve overall service delivery. You will play a key role in adapting and enhancing operations management systems to achieve the best results for AWS customers.
