Shopping team located in Bangalore is looking for an Software Development Manager to deliver strategic goals for Shopping suite of products. We operate in a high performance co-located agile ecosystem where SDEs, SDMs and Product Managers frequently connect with end customers of our products. Our SDEs stay connected with customers through various mechanisms and are involved in the product thinking and strategy throughout. This allows our engineering team to significantly influence product roadmap, contribute to PRFAQs and create disproportionate impact through the tech they deliver. We pride ourselves in being able to keep overheads minimum and being able to be the most productive and agile one can be, ensuring we deliver the most impact to our customers.

You will often find yourself building products and services that are new to Amazon and will have an opportunity to pioneer not just the technology components but the idea itself across other Amazon teams and markets.
Key job responsibilities
As a part of this role, you will:
Build and manage a team of industry-leading software engineers
Foster career growth and a strong team culture
Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff
Work cross-functionally, interfacing with internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress
Own all operational metrics and support for your team’s software
Manage the agile development process and methodology to deliver incremental value to customers
Work with product management to develop long-term architectural and business strategy- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
