Hardware Compliance Engineer-Safety is responsible for ensuring product safety compliance across global markets. This role focuses on product safety standards, hazard analysis, safety testing coordination, and maintaining safety documentation. The position requires deep understanding of international safety standards (IEC/UL/EN), risk assessment methodologies, and product safety requirements.
Key job responsibilities
Product Safety Management:
Work with product development teams to implement safety requirements from early design stages. Conduct product safety risk assessments and hazard analysis. Review product designs for compliance with safety standards including electrical, mechanical, fire, and chemical safety requirements. Provide design guidance to ensure products meet safety requirements across target markets.
Safety Testing & Certification:
Coordinate safety testing with certification bodies and test labs (UL, TUV, Intertek, etc.). Review test reports and safety investigation results. Address safety-related issues identified during testing. Maintain relationships with safety certification bodies and test labs. Monitor and validate safety critical components and materials.
Documentation & Technical Files:
Create and maintain safety-related technical documentation including risk analysis reports, safety test plans, and technical construction files. Review and approve product safety labels and warnings. Maintain safety critical components database and documentation. Prepare documentation for safety certification submissions.
Standards & Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current with product safety standards and regulatory requirements. Interpret and implement safety requirements from various standards (IEC 62368-1, IEC 60950-1, etc.). Monitor changes in safety regulations and assess impact on products. Develop internal safety compliance procedures and guidelines.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner with design teams to implement safety requirements in product development. Work with suppliers on safety critical component requirements. Coordinate with Quality team on safety-related quality issues. Support Manufacturing with safety compliance implementation. Consult with Legal on safety-related matters.

Regular activities: Safety compliance reviews, component evaluation, documentation updates- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in product safety compliance or certification
- Direct experience with international safety standards (IEC/UL/EN)
- Experience in safety compliance testing and certification processes
- Demonstrated experience with product safety documentation
- Proven track record of working with safety certification bodies- Technical Expertise:
- Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Professional certification in product safety
- Experience with IEC 62368-1, IEC 60950-1, IEC 61010-1 , Battery standards
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies
- Familiarity with UL, TUV, Intertek certification processes
- Industry Experience:
- Experience in consumer electronics, IT equipment, or related industries
- Background in product development or design
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Experience with ODM/OEM manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of component level safety requirements
- Project Management:
- Experience managing multiple certification projects
- Track record of successful product safety certifications
- Experience with project management tools
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
