Staff Backend Engineer II (Eats Growth Engineering)

Who you are

You have over 10 years of experience in back-end development, demonstrating a strong ability to design and optimize systems that handle high traffic volumes reliably. Your expertise in Java and Kotlin, along with the Spring framework, allows you to create high-quality products through effective code and design reviews. You are proficient in object-oriented design and development, and you have a solid understanding of microservices architecture (MSA). Your excellent problem-solving skills enable you to facilitate clear and transparent communication with team members and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned on project goals.

You thrive in collaborative environments, where you can serve as a key engineer making critical decisions on system design. Your experience includes developing sustainable services that contribute to growth by designing scalable architectures and systems. You take pride in improving software quality by writing testable, clean code, and you are committed to delivering high-quality products to customers.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and familiarity with CI/CD practices would be advantageous, as would a background in agile methodologies. You are open to mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and implement back-end services using RESTful APIs, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that enhance the Coupang Eats experience. Your responsibilities will include conducting code reviews, participating in system design discussions, and contributing to architectural decisions that impact the overall system performance.

You will also be tasked with improving software quality by writing clean, maintainable code and implementing best practices in software development. As a key member of the engineering team, you will help shape the technical direction of the projects you work on, ensuring that they align with the company's goals and customer needs.
