Overview

Esri is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET) to enhance the quality of their Network Diagram team. You'll collaborate with engineers to design and implement tests for complex network visualization software, utilizing skills in Java and API testing.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software quality assurance with a focus on automation — your experience includes designing and implementing tests for complex software systems. You are proficient in Java and have hands-on experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Selenium, allowing you to create robust test cases that ensure software reliability. You understand the importance of collaboration and have worked closely with product engineers to establish effective test plans and identify areas for improvement in software quality.

Your analytical skills enable you to measure test coverage and assess the effectiveness of testing strategies — you are comfortable managing and refactoring test suites to enhance their efficiency. You have a keen eye for detail and are committed to performing thorough peer reviews of test code, ensuring that best practices are followed throughout the development process. You are eager to learn from experienced colleagues and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies.

Desirable

Experience with API testing is a plus, as you will be designing and developing automated integration and regression test cases for software components. Familiarity with performance, scalability, and durability testing will also be beneficial in this role, as you will be responsible for ensuring that the software meets high standards of quality under various conditions.

What you'll do

In this role, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers to establish comprehensive test plans for the Network Diagram software. You will identify gaps in existing plans and prioritize manual tests that are suitable for automation, ensuring that the software is rigorously tested before deployment. Your responsibilities will include creating tests for functional, performance, scalability, and durability aspects of the software, using established coding guidelines.

You will design and develop automated integration and regression test cases, deploying and scheduling these tests to run daily. Sharing test results in an easy-to-understand manner will be crucial, as you will need to communicate findings effectively to the team. You will also manage and refactor the suite of integration tests and results dashboards as needed, ensuring that they remain relevant and useful.

As part of your role, you will perform in-depth peer reviews of test code, collaborating closely with software development engineers to improve overall software quality. Your contributions will help to enhance the testability of code and ensure that the software meets the high standards expected by Esri and its customers.
