Airtable is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to enhance their infrastructure and improve critical product systems. You'll work with technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, and Docker. This role requires 2-8 years of experience.
You have 2-8 years of experience in software engineering, particularly focused on backend systems and infrastructure. You understand the importance of building scalable systems that provide a great developer experience and can adapt as the organization grows. Your background includes working with cloud platforms and container orchestration, which allows you to contribute effectively to complex projects.
You possess strong programming skills in languages such as Java and Python, enabling you to tackle various challenges in system design and implementation. Your experience with Kubernetes and Docker has equipped you with the knowledge to manage containerized applications and optimize deployment processes. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring that infrastructure improvements align with product goals.
You are proactive in identifying areas for optimization and performance enhancements within existing systems. Your analytical mindset helps you troubleshoot issues effectively, and you are always looking for ways to improve the overall infrastructure. You thrive in environments where you can contribute to foundational work that supports future growth.
Experience with AWS services is a plus, as it allows you to leverage cloud capabilities for building robust applications. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools will help you streamline development workflows and enhance deployment efficiency. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can further improve your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will join Airtable's infrastructure team, focusing on enhancing the systems that power the core of Airtable’s product. You will work on key projects such as building replication systems to support zero downtime failovers and optimizing performance and memory usage for the in-memory database. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability and scalability of Airtable's services.
You will collaborate closely with other engineers to manage and improve the Kubernetes-based platform that supports all services at Airtable. This includes working on exciting foundational projects like overhauling the network stack and service discovery to simplify service setup and strengthen security. You will also be involved in building custom Kubernetes operators to manage critical workloads reliably.
As part of the Data Infrastructure team, you will help enable the effective use of data across the organization. Your role will involve designing and implementing solutions that enhance data accessibility and performance, ensuring that Airtable can continue to serve its growing user base effectively.
