India Consumer Business (ICB) Technology team builds products and services that solve unique needs of accounting and finance in Amazon’s fastest growing marketplace India and Emerging Markets. We are a multi-billion dollar business with a huge potential to grow in a trillion dollar market.
The India Accounting Engineering team is responsible for building relevant systems & workflows that automates & simplifies the booking of Financial / Accounting events from all Amazon India and Emerging Market business launches. We own technology to automate and self-service Amazon.IN Finance processes. Our engineers work on a wide range of technologies (including AWS and EC2) and build and operate highly scalable across geographies with unique accounting and financial requirements. Typically the scope of Financial / Account event starts post the collection of money from transactions on / for Amazon. All platform systems that handles the collected money and account them at Amazon Internally will be part of the team’s scope.
As a Software Development Engineer working in India Accounting Engineering Team, you will lead designing and building platforms that is configuration driven, self-service capable, to serve the fast growing needs of various businesses at Amazon. These systems play a critical role in enabling the business to launch on time, and handling real time business events and translate them into financial events that could then be persisted onto Financial Systems within Amazon.
As an engineer here, you will be part of a team of high performing engineers to build, scale, monitor, and optimize the platforms that processes these business and financial events. You will interface with several teams including Fulfillment Services, Fees, Taxes, Retail Systems, Marketplace Systems, Invoicing Platform, Digital Systems, Amazon Web Services, Financial Systems, Accounting and Operations.
A successful candidate will be a self-starter and fast learner with an established background in developing high volume and highly available services, strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
Design, implementation, and deployment of one or more of the following: web services, web applications, or mobile applications.
Knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
Work with cross-functional teams across Amazon on the design and development of core platform functionality.
Work with the business team and project managers to convert functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.
Work with engineers to define technical tasks and build detailed implementation plans.
He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. They would need to also balance technical leadership with savvy business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer on the India Accounting Engineering team, you will spend time each day writing code, reviewing code, creating documentation and responding to operational issues in the team’s systems. You will have conversations with technical leaders which will help you grow your career. You will get to know your customers and figure out better ways to solve their problems. - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
