Job Description

Amazon Direct Tax Technology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solutions Architect Manager to lead a team of solutions architects, tax modelers and other tech & non-tech roles in delivering world-class technology solutions. This role is based in Hyderabad, India and requires a strategic leader who can manage complex technical challenges while building and developing a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong people management capabilities to drive innovation and deliver scalable solutions that meet business objectives.

The Solutions Architect Manager will be responsible for leading their team through ambiguous and complex technical challenges, establishing strategic direction, and ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable solutions. This role requires someone who can think strategically while acting tactically, possessing excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to influence business and technology leaders at all levels, including senior management.

This role requires the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and time zones, manage competing priorities, and adapt to rapidly changing business needs. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where they can make a significant impact on both their team and the broader organization.


Key job responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering innovation, addressing performance issues proactively, and creating a psychologically safe environment where all team members can contribute and grow into future leaders.

Technical Leadership
Serve as a trusted technical advisor who leads complex, business-critical projects from requirements through delivery, ensuring scalable, data-driven solutions while advancing organizational capabilities and thought leadership.

Strategic Planning & Execution
Define team goals by working backwards from customer problems, contribute to 1-3 year strategic initiatives, establish success metrics, and navigate ambiguous situations while balancing short-term delivery with long-term organizational needs.

Stakeholder Management & Communication
Negotiate priorities across teams, present recommendations to senior leadership, and foster constructive dialogue that harmonizes competing viewpoints while using Amazon's mechanisms to communicate decisions effectively.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Drive continuous improvement by establishing best practices, simplifying processes, and optimizing project delivery to reduce repeated work and increase team efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams- AWS Professional level certification
- Experience with data scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
