Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Sourcing Manager for the Starshield project to manage demand planning and sourcing for satellite hardware. You'll work closely with suppliers to develop cost management strategies and ensure efficient production processes.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in supply chain management and sourcing, ideally with experience in the aerospace or technology sectors. Your ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate effectively has been proven in previous roles, where you've successfully driven cost-saving initiatives and improved supplier performance. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are adept at balancing multiple priorities while ensuring project timelines are met. Your analytical skills allow you to develop should-cost models and conduct competitive cost analyses that inform sourcing decisions. You are a proactive communicator, capable of interfacing with both internal teams and external suppliers to ensure alignment on project goals.

Desirable

Experience with satellite or aerospace hardware sourcing is a plus, as is familiarity with procurement processes and supplier development. A background in engineering or technical fields can enhance your ability to understand the complexities of the products you will be sourcing. You are comfortable using data to drive decisions and have a knack for identifying process improvements that lead to greater efficiency.

What you'll do

As a Sourcing Manager for the Starshield project, you will be responsible for managing the demand plan and sourcing strategies for hardware used in the satellite constellation. You will work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support both existing platforms and new product development. Your role will involve acting as the supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, ensuring that suppliers are prepared to support all prototype builds with the appropriate equipment and materials. You will manage costs aggressively to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts, driving internal and external process improvements to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving measures.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering and production, to ensure that sourcing strategies align with project timelines and quality standards. Your ability to influence and shape suppliers will be critical as you challenge the supply chain on cost, quality, and speed of execution. You will also be involved in developing should-cost models for competitive cost analysis, ensuring that your sourcing decisions are data-driven and strategically sound.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to advancing space technology and enabling human life on Mars. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration. Join us in our quest to make humanity a multi-planetary species.
