Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning and computer vision, with experience in developing and optimizing AI models. Your expertise in multimodal AI allows you to work effectively on projects that require integrating various data types and sources. You are passionate about research and have a desire to publish your findings in top-tier venues, collaborating with academic partners like ETH Zurich. You thrive in a team environment and enjoy mentoring students and junior researchers, sharing your knowledge and insights to foster their growth.

You are familiar with the latest advancements in AI and have a keen interest in exploring new hardware capabilities and device form-factors. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges in building scalable and efficient AI systems. You are committed to continuous learning and are eager to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field.

Desirable

Experience with foundational multimodal models and their training processes is a plus. Familiarity with optimizing models for various hardware platforms, including CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs, will enhance your contributions to the team. You may also have experience in curating training and evaluation datasets, ensuring high-quality benchmarks for model performance.

What you'll do

In this role, you will research and develop novel machine learning algorithms and models that push the boundaries of current technology. You will work on both pre-training and post-training processes for foundational multimodal models, ensuring they are robust and effective for real-world applications. Your responsibilities will include building data and learning solutions that prioritize scalability, efficiency, and performance, which are crucial for integrating AI into Microsoft products.

You will curate training and evaluation datasets, establishing benchmarks that guide the optimization of models. Your work will involve optimizing these models for various hardware configurations, ensuring they perform well across different platforms. You will collaborate closely with other scientists and engineers in the Spatial AI Lab, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to present your research at workshops and conferences, showcasing your findings and engaging with the broader AI community.
