Senior Software Engineer, Measurement & Ads

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems issues with ease. Your expertise in Java and API design is deep — you've built high-throughput systems that handle millions of requests and understand the intricacies of service architecture and testing strategies. You are a strong systems thinker and a pragmatic builder — you care about correctness, reliability, and operational excellence in every project you undertake. Collaboration is key for you — you thrive in cross-functional teams, working closely with Product, Marketing, and Data teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are comfortable tackling complex, data-intensive problems at scale and enjoy the challenge of designing reliable event pipelines and attribution systems. You are passionate about continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance system performance and reliability.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP would be a plus, as well as familiarity with data engineering practices and tools. Knowledge of event-driven architecture and experience in building integrations across various marketing channels will set you apart. You are someone who enjoys mentoring junior engineers and sharing knowledge within your team, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, build, and operate scalable backend systems that support measurement, attribution, experimentation, and integrations across all of SoFi’s marketing channels. You will tackle complex, data-intensive problems at scale, ensuring that the systems you build are reliable and efficient. You will own meaningful backend components from design through production, collaborating closely with Product, Marketing, Data, and other Engineering teams to ensure alignment and success. Your responsibilities will include designing reliable event pipelines, building attribution systems, and creating APIs that connect ad platforms with internal analytics and downstream consumers. You will participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help shape the technical direction of the team. You will also be responsible for monitoring system performance and implementing improvements as necessary, ensuring that SoFi's backend systems are robust and scalable.
