Astranis is seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to design and implement active RF electronics for satellite payloads. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to meet system requirements. This role requires expertise in RF design and electronics.
You have a strong background in RF engineering with at least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing RF electronics for complex systems. Your expertise includes working with frequency converters, SSPAs, LNAs, and other RF components, ensuring high performance and reliability in your designs. You are comfortable collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to achieve integrated system solutions. You have a keen understanding of microwave frequencies and the challenges associated with RF subsystem design, and you are adept at using simulation tools to validate your designs.
You possess a solid understanding of hardware design processes, from requirements definition through to manufacturing and qualification testing. Your experience includes hands-on work with RF testing equipment and methodologies, allowing you to measure and validate performance against specifications. You are detail-oriented and have a strong problem-solving mindset, enabling you to troubleshoot and optimize designs effectively. You are committed to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in RF technology.
Experience with satellite communications or aerospace applications is a plus, as is familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in the RF domain. You may also have experience in project management or leading small teams, which would enhance your ability to drive projects to completion.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, qualification, and procurement of active RF electronics for satellite payloads. You will design, simulate, implement, and measure both active and passive RF sub-systems at microwave frequencies, including SSPAs, LNAs, power amplifiers, up/down converters, oscillators, and filters. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure that your designs meet the overall system requirements and performance criteria.
You will take ownership of hardware designs, guiding them from initial concept through to manufacturing and testing phases. This includes defining requirements, creating detailed design documentation, and conducting thorough testing to validate performance. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the design and testing phases, ensuring that all products meet the high standards expected by our customers.
Your role will require you to stay engaged with the latest RF technologies and methodologies, continuously seeking ways to improve design processes and outcomes. You will participate in cross-functional team meetings, providing insights and updates on your projects while also contributing to the overall engineering culture at Astranis.
