Sr. Software Engineer, Security (Starship)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly focused on security. Your background includes a strong understanding of secure software development life cycles and the ability to implement security measures effectively. You are familiar with applied cryptography and have experience in network security, ensuring that systems are protected against unauthorized access and data tampering. Your knowledge extends to operating system security, allowing you to address vulnerabilities at multiple levels of the technology stack. You are comfortable working at different levels of abstraction and can prioritize tasks effectively to meet project goals. You have a proven track record of shipping reliable software and understand the security design principles of today’s Internet.

Desirable

Experience with security protocols and frameworks is a plus, as is familiarity with the latest trends in cybersecurity. You are proactive in identifying potential security threats and have a mindset geared towards continuous improvement in security practices. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with other engineers to establish secure software development practices.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Starship Software team, you will be responsible for defining and building the security infrastructure that protects Starship vehicles, pads, operator UIs, and communications links. You will collaborate with the larger software team to establish and maintain secure software development practices, ensuring that all components of the Starship system are resilient against attacks. Your role will involve designing security protocols, implementing cryptographic measures, and conducting security assessments to identify and mitigate risks. You will also be involved in code reviews and provide guidance on best practices for secure coding. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and reliability of SpaceX's missions, as you work to protect critical systems from unauthorized access and data breaches.
