Senior Product Design Engineer, Pixel Camera Hardware

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts and mechanical assemblies. Your expertise includes using computer-aided design (CAD) tools like 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or SolidWorks, and you have a strong background in mechanical design within the consumer electronics industry, particularly focused on camera modules and their components. You are familiar with Tolerance Analysis, Root Sum of Squares (RSS), Monte Carlo simulations, and statistical process control, which you have applied in your previous roles. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with 8 years of experience in consumer product design, showcasing your ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with suppliers.

What you'll do

As a Senior Product Design Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for designing and enhancing mechanical components for Pixel Camera Hardware. You will work closely with product system teams to review and improve camera integration strategies, ensuring that all components function seamlessly together. Your role will involve conducting comprehensive failure analyses and implementing corrective actions based on reliability and factory testing results. You will also collaborate with technology partners and vendors to advance camera module design technology, creating prototypes for Proof of Concept validation. Your experience in system integration will be crucial as you work with electro-mechanical components, ensuring that all aspects of the camera modules are waterproof, thermally efficient, and well-grounded. You will be expected to lead projects and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
