Mission Tooling Software Engineer

Who you are

You are a highly motivated Software Engineer with experience in developing mission-support systems for complex projects. You have a strong background in Python programming and are familiar with C++ for interfacing with flight software. You understand the importance of writing robust and well-tested code, and you are committed to following best practices in software architecture and performance optimization. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to listen to user needs across various engineering and software departments.

You have a passion for space exploration and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the development of a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle. You are comfortable taking ownership of key components of the software stack and are dedicated to ensuring safe, autonomous, and reliable spaceflight operations. You are adaptable and open to working with cross-functional teams to achieve mission objectives.

Desirable

Experience with mission tooling or automation in aerospace or similar industries is a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools will enhance your ability to deliver high-quality software solutions efficiently. A background in systems engineering or ground software development would also be beneficial.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, implement, and own core software tools that support mission-related automation, testing, simulation, deployment, and configuration data management. You will interface directly with users across technical departments, ensuring that the tools you develop meet their needs and enhance their workflows. You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable Python code and integrating it with existing C++ flight software.

You will work in a fast-paced environment where cross-functional integration is essential. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Nyx vehicle's operations, and you will have the opportunity to collaborate with flight software engineers, GNC engineers, and system operations teams. You will also be involved in testing and validating the software tools you create, ensuring they perform reliably in mission scenarios.
