Who you are

You are currently pursuing a PhD in a relevant field, such as computer science, data science, or machine learning. You have a strong foundation in machine learning principles and practices, and you are eager to apply your theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Your experience includes developing and deploying machine learning models, and you are proficient in programming languages such as Python. You have a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, and you are comfortable working with large datasets. You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working in cross-functional teams and communicating complex ideas clearly. You are passionate about leveraging technology to solve challenging problems in finance and data.

Desirable

Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus, as is familiarity with SQL for data manipulation. You may have contributed to open-source projects or have a portfolio showcasing your work in machine learning. A background in finance or an understanding of financial systems would be beneficial but is not required.

What you'll do

As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern at Stripe, you will engage in the end-to-end process of designing, training, and deploying machine learning models that drive significant business value. You will work on projects that enhance Stripe's suite of products, focusing on areas such as fraud detection and user behavior prediction. You will collaborate with teams across Applied ML, Data Science, Risk, and Payments to tackle complex challenges at the intersection of finance and technology. Your responsibilities will include writing production-scale ML models, conducting experiments to improve model performance, and analyzing data to derive actionable insights. You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects like the Stripe Assistant and the Stripe Foundation Model, which leverage machine learning to revolutionize financial services.
