Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in one of the following in a data center environment: fleet management, resource management, or infrastructure management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in managing technical projects.
  • Experience with scripting or business tool development using SQL or Python.
  • Experience with Google software services or understanding of compute/storage resource management.
  • Ability to influence and deliver solutions in an ambiguous and always changing environment.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Central Fleet team is responsible for provisioning fleet compute and storage resources to Google resource managers while managing the cost, health and life cycle of the underlying fleet of machines. Our team leverages Google resource abstraction systems to expose and execute on opportunities for inventory and fleet optimization. We partner with the fleet’s stakeholders, giving them a platform to influence fleet composition and design.The mission is to synthesize all stakeholders needs and orchestrate changes to the fleet, driving the fleet evolution.

As a Technical Program Manager for resource management/Central Fleet, you will be central to the advancement of Google’s mission to catalog the world’s information at a global scale and leading cross-functional programs aimed at solving some of Google’s testing problems in cloud computing and pushing the leading edge of modern operations management. You will work with Google physical supply chain, Data Center planning, and Software Engineering teams to design, deploy, and manage the systems that are used to optimize Google immense fleet of shared compute and storage resources.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

  • Manage a portfolio of projects related to fleet efficiency, resource stranding, reverse supply chain, and other fleet priorities.
  • Translate new supply chain capabilities into cost reduction initiatives or user facing feature improvements and work with software engineering partners to manage product roadmaps and priorities.
  • Support operations and problem-solving projects related to the allocation and budgeting of internal computing resources.
  • Support subsequent operations and problem-solving projects related to supply chain management and capacity planning needs for computing resources.
  • Provide scripting/tool development as necessary and work with partner teams to manage, launch and deliver projects related to process redesign around demand and supply-side compute resource management.
