Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process development, mechanical engineering, and 3D modeling. As a Manufacturing/Tooling Engineer, you will manage complex manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production methods, cost optimization, and product quality. You will be responsible for developing tooling, gauges, and fixtures to enable consistent manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new manufacturing processes, improve existing ones, and support product development through detailed engineering analysis. This role requires a hands-on approach, and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production.
- Conduct Cpk and capabilities analysis to assess process performance, production trends, and implement solutions to improve yield and throughput.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing operations, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and improving manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.
- Develop and update detailed process documentation, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams to transition new products from concept to production.
- Work on continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process optimization techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in product design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and cost-efficiency.- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong emphasis on process development.
- Expertise in Cpk/Capabilities analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and process optimization.
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Experience with process development and improvement techniques, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems, automation, and production line optimization.- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, MES) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP, Python)
- Knowledge of material science and product design for manufacturability.
- Certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
- Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter CAD software.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
