You are passionate about video technology and understand the challenges associated with streaming services — your experience includes optimizing backend systems for speed and security. You have a strong foundation in database management and can implement solutions that ensure data integrity and availability. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and have a track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems.

You are a strong communicator who can articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders — you enjoy mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge with the team. What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Streaming team, you will design and implement backend systems that power the video experience for over 1.4 million Verkada cameras. Your work will directly impact how organizations utilize video for security and monitoring. You will collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to ensure that the backend systems meet user needs and provide a seamless experience.

You will take on complex challenges related to video streaming, focusing on delivering live and recorded video with unmatched speed and reliability. Your role will involve optimizing existing systems and developing new features that enhance the overall functionality of the platform. You will also be responsible for ensuring the security of the video data and implementing best practices for data protection.

You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's technical direction, helping to establish standards and best practices for backend development. You will work closely with DevOps to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of the systems you build. Your contributions will help shape the future of Verkada's video streaming capabilities, making a significant impact on the safety and efficiency of organizations worldwide.
