Google is seeking a Staff Privacy Engineer to drive privacy initiatives for Google Messages. You'll work with Android and privacy technologies to ensure user trust and compliance. This role requires 7+ years of experience in privacy-related fields.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 7 years of experience working in a privacy-related field, such as security engineering or data engineering. Your background includes 2 years of experience driving initiatives and solutions for technological problems, showcasing your ability to tackle complex challenges. You are well-versed in determining privacy technologies or frameworks to solve technical and operational problems, and you have hands-on experience with privacy data handling and information privacy. Your familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including code review experience in one or more general-purpose languages, sets you apart. You also have experience in privacy testing, particularly in wearables, smart-home, or mobile devices, and a solid understanding of E2EE messaging and the mobile or Android platform.
Your knowledge extends to consumer and business messaging, including RCS, and you have a keen interest in AI/ML technologies. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to work with cross-functional teams to ensure privacy excellence in product launches. You are proactive in conducting privacy risk assessments and providing guidance to mitigate identified privacy risks, demonstrating your commitment to user trust and product integrity.
Experience with privacy technologies and frameworks is a plus, as is familiarity with privacy solutions such as PET to reduce privacy risks. Your ability to collaborate with legal and public policy teams will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
As a Staff Privacy Engineer at Google, you will review product designs for RCS Business Messages, ensuring that privacy considerations are integrated into the product development process. You will provide privacy guidance and requirements for product privacy assurance, working closely with engineering teams to implement effective privacy solutions. Your role will involve conducting privacy risk assessments and offering solutions to mitigate identified risks, thereby enhancing user trust in Google Messages.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams, including legal and public policy, to ensure that privacy excellence is maintained throughout product launches. Your expertise will be crucial in providing post-launch support, including privacy subject matter analysis for incidents and vulnerability reports.
