Team mission

The existing Site Reliability Engineering team has grown and now needs an additional Engineering Manager to lead and build a newly formed SRE team to deliver a highly reliable, scalable, and secure foundation for our engineering organization. 

You’ll drive SLOs and error budgets, mature observability, incident response, and capacity planning, and eliminate toil through automation and paved‑road tooling that unlocks developer velocity. 

Your mission:

This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Infrastructure and is primarily measured according to the performance of their team. We divide their responsibility into the following areas:

• Be responsible for all hiring and performance management topics on the Engineering side helping your engineers reach their full potential!
• Partner closely with your engineering stakeholders to manage the roadmap and portfolio allocation to drive impactful projects.
• Find pragmatic solutions to complex technical challenges that span across multiple services and domains of our marketplace and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in the broader business on initiatives.

Your toolkit:

• You have a strong sense of ownership ensuring that technical and project plans are aligned with your stakeholders & team members for delivery!
• Enjoy approaching complex topics with an open mind and eye for simplicity.
• Have a passion for people, supporting and coaching your engineers without going into micromanagement mode.
• Not only care about technical topics but also passionate about creating value for our customers and the business and apply that judgment to your own roadmap.
• Motivated to work in an international cross-functional environment.
• Solid understanding of public clouds (we use AWS), kubernetes and observability (we use datadog)

• Experience working in a startup environment taking projects from start to finish
• Experience working in (or closely with) e-commerce marketplaces
• Experience working in large scale distributed systems and infrastructure settings
• Experience upleveling engineering organisations using site reliability best practices
