Overview

SpaceX is hiring an Optical Engineer for the Starlink team to develop cutting-edge satellite free-space optical communication systems. You'll be responsible for the design, validation, and operation of laser communication systems. This role requires expertise in optics and photonics.

You have a strong background in optics and photonics, with experience in optical system development, including design, analysis, and validation. You are passionate about solving complex problems in real-time, resource-constrained systems and have a keen interest in advancing laser communication technologies. Your theoretical expertise is complemented by practical implementation skills, allowing you to contribute effectively to cross-disciplinary teams. You thrive in challenging environments and are eager to shape the future of satellite communication systems. You possess excellent problem-solving abilities and can define requirements for high-performance optical systems in demanding conditions.

Desirable

Experience with free-space optical communication systems or satellite technology is a plus. Familiarity with laser communication terminals and imaging products will enhance your ability to contribute to the Starlink project. What you'll do

As an Optical Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the design and development of free-space optical systems for the Starlink satellite constellation.
