Position: PostgreSQL DBA – Senior Consultant (5-10 years)
Position Summary:
The PostgreSQL DBA Consultant/Senior Consultant is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for deploying and managing large environments with strong technical expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Advise the customer on best practices.
• Hands-on experience in participating in upgrades & migrations for customers.
• Ensure timely entry of tasks, maintaining updates within 24 hours.
• Advise customers on hardware and licensing questions.
• Ensure that customers have appropriate maintenance in place, including backups, index maintenance, and routine vacuuming.
• Hands-on performance tuning.
• Continue to learn new skills involved in being a PostgreSQL DBA as the technology evolves.
• Keep up to date with new releases of PostgreSQL and advise customers on relevant aspects.
• Ensure compliance with data protection legislation under the DPA, EU GDPR, and any other applicable data protection legislation.
Qualifications:
• College degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• More than 2.5 years of relevant experience working with PostgreSQL databases & servers.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Implement best practices on PostgreSQL Databases and Servers.
• Interface and communicate with customers and other internal departments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Hands-on experience with installation and configuration of PostgreSQL.
• Maintain documentation with processes and procedures.
• Implement/support Log Shipping, Failover Solutions, and Replication.
• Flexible to work in rotational shifts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Motivated to drive tasks to completion and take ownership of projects.
• Ability to multi-task and work across projects and clients.
