Waymo is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for their ML Infrastructure team to develop and deploy advanced machine learning solutions. You'll work with technologies like Python and TensorFlow to enhance the Waymo Driver's capabilities. This role requires significant experience in machine learning and deep learning.
You have 5+ years of experience in machine learning and software engineering, with a strong foundation in developing and deploying machine learning models. Your expertise includes deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and you are comfortable working with large datasets to train robust models. You understand the intricacies of reinforcement learning and have experience with large language models, enabling you to contribute to innovative projects in autonomous driving technology.
You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams, including ML Modeling Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers. Your communication skills allow you to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals and objectives. You thrive in a fast-paced, experiment-driven environment and are committed to maintaining system reliability and performance.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is a plus, as is familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. You have a passion for autonomous systems and a desire to contribute to the future of mobility.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Predictive Planning team to develop state-of-the-art machine learning solutions that predict the future state of the world and plan the Waymo Driver's behavior. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of our systems amidst rapid development cycles, leveraging your expertise in machine learning to enhance the performance of our models.
You will engage in hands-on coding and model training, utilizing your skills in Python and TensorFlow to build and optimize deep neural networks. Your work will directly impact the Waymo Driver's ability to navigate complex environments safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of improving access to mobility and saving lives.
You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's best practices, ensuring high-quality software development standards. As part of a hybrid team, you will have the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan. You will be part of a mission-driven company that is at the forefront of autonomous driving technology, working on projects that have a real-world impact.
