About the Opportunity

Bitvavo is on a mission to make digital assets accessible to everyone, and exceptional user experience is at the heart of how we deliver on that promise. As Director of User Experience & Design, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of one of Europe’s fastest-growing digital asset platforms. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will lead a multi-disciplinary department of designers, UX researchers, and UX writers, building systems and structures that elevate our user experience to the next level. This is an opportunity to drive design excellence, scale a growing team, and directly impact millions of users across the continent.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Define and execute the UX and design strategy in close collaboration with the Chief Product Officer
• Lead and scale a high-performing department of designers, researchers, and UX copywriters through a manager-of-managers structure
• Build robust UX processes and structures that foster collaboration with cross-functional teams and align with business goals
• Advocate for the customer at every stage of the product lifecycle through research-driven and data-informed design decisions
• Champion and evolve Bitvavo’s design principles to ensure a clean, professional, and engaging experience across all platforms
• Oversee the development and adoption of a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency across channels and product teams
• Inspire a culture of design excellence, continuous improvement, and customer-centric innovation within the UX discipline

What We Look For

• Proven experience leading and scaling UX teams of 25 or more in a fast-paced digital B2C environment
• At least 12 years of UX design experience, with a minimum of 7 years in leadership roles
• Background in fintech or crypto, with bonus points for experience in trading or investing products
• Strong systems thinking and a strategic mindset, connecting design excellence with product and business outcomes
• Deep empathy for users and a strong track record of leveraging UX research to drive impactful product decisions
• High standards for design quality and a passion for creating intuitive and elegant user experiences
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization while advocating for the UX voice
