Google is hiring a Data Center Technician I for the night shift to install, configure, and maintain hardware and server software. You'll work with Linux systems and networking protocols, requiring experience in troubleshooting technical equipment.
You have experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment as required and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable to changes in a dynamic work environment and can effectively execute frequent verbal and written instructions. Collaboration is key for you, as you enjoy partnering with teams to overcome issues.
You have at least 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. Experience in performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as Systems Administration or Help Desk Technician, is preferred. You understand the importance of security issues and can handle them in accordance with established standards.
As a Data Center Technician I, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware, including servers and their components. You will also work with server software, particularly Google's Linux cluster. Your role will involve configuring complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches. You will disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and perform preventative maintenance based on identified issues. You will work in a team setting to repair and fix equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
