Overview

Flexport is seeking a Privacy and Compliance Manager to lead compliance initiatives related to data protection laws such as GDPR and CCPA. You'll work cross-functionally with legal, engineering, and product teams to ensure adherence to privacy regulations.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in privacy and compliance, with at least 5 years of experience in managing data protection programs. Your expertise includes deep knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and New York SHIELD Act. You are adept at working cross-functionally with various teams, including legal, engineering, and product, to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of customer and partner data.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey complex privacy concepts to stakeholders at all levels. You are detail-oriented and have a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating compliance risks. Your ability to stay updated on emerging privacy laws and regulations is crucial in this role.

Desirable

Experience in a technology-driven environment is a plus, as is familiarity with data processing activities and record-keeping requirements. You are passionate about privacy and data protection, and you understand the importance of transparency and security in handling sensitive information.

What you'll do

As the Privacy and Compliance Manager at Flexport, you will serve as the designated privacy and security officer under GDPR, leading compliance initiatives for CCPA/CPRA, NY SHIELD Act, and other emerging privacy laws. You will own and maintain the company’s Record of Processing Activities (ROPA), ensuring that all data processing activities are documented and compliant with applicable regulations.

You will collaborate closely with legal, engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to develop and implement privacy policies and procedures that align with business objectives while ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Your role will involve conducting regular audits and assessments to identify potential compliance gaps and recommending corrective actions.

You will also be responsible for training and educating employees on privacy best practices and compliance requirements, fostering a culture of privacy awareness within the organization. Your insights will help shape the company’s approach to data protection and privacy, ensuring that Flexport maintains its reputation for integrity and security in handling customer data.

What we offer

Flexport offers a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on the company's privacy and compliance landscape. You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team dedicated to innovation and excellence in global trade. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Join us in our mission to make global commerce easier and more transparent, and help us tackle the challenges that impact business, society, and the environment. We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.
