Amazon Robotics is located in the greater Boston area, the epicenter of robotics innovation, with development rubs also in Seattle and Europe. Our diverse teams come from all over the world to design, test and build our dynamic fleet of robots, mechatronic systems and pack automation solutions. We design autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive analytics, and much more.

The Amazon Robotics Supply Chain and Operations organization sources and manufactures a portfolio of robotics technology and is responsible for getting the right components to the right place at the right time to support our network of global fulfillment and transportation solutions.

The Supply Chain team is seeking an experienced Sr. Global Commodity Manager for Industrial Automation and Controls (PLCs, Industrial PCs, Data Processing, Network Switches and firewall, Safety Systems and I/O devices) with a technical background and experience in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, supplier development, and executing sourcing decisions to support new product introduction and long-term commodity strategy.

The ideal candidate for this position will be self-managed and driven sourcing strategist, with experience in the automation industry, mapping and aligning design and technology roadmaps, experience in creating sourcing strategies, and business acumen to support engineering teams to develop latest technologies through strong vendor base, without capacity constrain, while achieving cost reduction goals.

The Sr. Global Commodity Manager has an important role in ensuring their respective technologies and suppliers meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to satisfy its internal Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, and Hardware Engineering customers.

Key job responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy:
• Serve as technical subject matter expert for assigned commodities, leveraging engineering background to develop deep understanding of technology, architecture, and manufacturing processes
• Translate complex technical specifications into clear sourcing strategies, considering efficiency, availability, operability, scalability, and risks
• Define and execute commodity strategies aligned with product roadmaps and business goals
Supplier Management & Cost Optimization:
• Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic supplier relationships and complex contracts
• Drive global initiatives for supplier cost optimization, risk mitigation, and lead-time reduction
• Own supplier performance management through scorecards and quarterly business reviews with senior stakeholders
• Travel to supplier sites domestically and internationally (approximately 25%)

Cross-functional Leadership:
• Lead large-scale initiatives spanning multiple teams and geographies
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and program teams to define technical requirements and ensure sourcing strategies meet cost, quality, and capability targets

- 6+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience with technology transformation initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME, EE, CE, SW) or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high-volume, global manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of direct experience managing global supply base in relevant commodity
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering requirements and design documents for mechanical and electro-mechanical parts
- Proven track record in developing and executing global supplier strategies focusing on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and lead time reduction- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Operations), Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, or related technical fields
- Demonstrated ability to work in an ambiguous environment while prioritizing and managing multiple stakeholders, responsibilities, and delivering multiple first-of-their-kind programs
- Track record of owning and driving measurable business outcomes.
- Strong contract negotiation experience with high-volume domestic and international suppliers
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools, Tableau analytics, and ERP/PLM Systems.
