Description

As an Infrastructure Platform Software Engineer, you ’ll play a crucial role in automating and optimizing our infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and enhancing Puppet modules and infrastructure code, leveraging the latest features of Puppet 7 and 8, such as improved language features, enhanced performance, and expanded platform support.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in infrastructure automation, with a focus on configuration management tools. Understanding of software development principles and the software development lifecycle. Familiarity with release engineering principles and practices, including GitFlow branching. Proficiency in at least one object orientated scripting language, such as Python or Go. Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chef) Understanding of Linux system administration and networking concepts. Experience with build systems such as Jenkins or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Expertise with network engineering principles and troubleshooting. Experience with IPv6 deployment in a dual-stack environment Familiarity with Puppet and a strong desire to learn Puppet 7 and 8. Strong desire to learn and embrace new technologies, including AI-powered automation tools.

Responsibilities

You’ll design and implement robust release pipelines using GitFlow branching strategies and create and maintain build jobs within our build system, either Jenkins or Rio. Additionally, you’ll troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and release-related issues, contribute to the design and architecture of our infrastructure automation solutions, and actively explore and integrate AI tools and techniques to enhance automation workflows, improve system performance, and optimize Puppet code. Collaboration with other engineers to share knowledge and best practices will be essential, as will stay current with the latest trends and technologies in infrastructure automation, release engineering, Linux system administration, AI-powered automation, and the evolving Puppet ecosystem. You’ll contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by bringing new perspectives and innovative solutions to existing challenges. Depending on the role, you may lead project teams, design projects, and take ownership for complete projects or major components. Demonstrating leadership, innovation, responsibility, and creative thinking, you’ll influence others and achieve organizational impact.
