Google is seeking a Head of Silicon Package Reliability to lead reliability programs for new consumer electronic products. You'll work closely with product management and design engineering teams, applying your expertise in hardware engineering and reliability techniques. This role requires 12 years of experience in silicon/SOC reliability and team management.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Hardware Engineering or equivalent practical experience, along with 12 years of experience in Silicon/SOC reliability that spans transistors, back-end interconnects, silicon, package interconnects reliability, and package board interactions. You have spent at least 10 years managing a team across multiple silicon and packaging quality and reliability domains, demonstrating your leadership capabilities. With 6 years of experience in an engineering leadership role, you have successfully worked with and managed executive stakeholders across various areas and disciplines.
Your preferred qualifications include a Master's degree or PhD in Hardware Engineering, which enhances your understanding of the field. You have experience leading reliability program reviews with executives, right-sizing and prioritizing technical issues, and driving cross-functional teams towards corrective actions and mitigations. You are adept at managing escalations with executive leadership, showcasing your ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
You are skilled in applying design for reliability techniques, including Modeling and DFMEA, and have a strong grasp of reliability modeling techniques such as Reliability Block Diagram, Weibull, and Reliability Growth Models. Your experience with failure analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical, or optical components further solidifies your expertise in this domain. You have successfully shipped multiple silicon and package generations in a reliability lead role, demonstrating your ability to deliver results.
Your knowledge extends to modeling and reliability statistics for silicon, interconnects, and packaging failure modes, making you a well-rounded candidate for this position. As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and supervise Operating Life (HTOL) testing, modeling, and risk predictions.
In this role, you will develop reliability performance metrics and lead management reviews to assess progress against those metrics. You will be responsible for leading reliability test planning, methodology, and execution for all aspects of the product. Setting expectations with individuals based on their role will be crucial, as you will meet regularly to discuss performance, development, and provide feedback and coaching. Your leadership will guide the team in achieving high standards of reliability in product development.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that reliability considerations are integrated into the product design process from the outset. This involves working closely with design engineers to specify tests that align with reliability goals and overseeing the execution of these tests to validate product performance. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be essential in driving the reliability agenda forward.
You will also be tasked with identifying potential reliability risks early in the development process and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks. This proactive approach will help ensure that the products developed meet the rigorous standards expected by consumers and stakeholders alike. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a culture of reliability within the engineering teams, encouraging best practices and continuous improvement.
At Google, you will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence in product development.
