Google is hiring a Data Center Facilities Technician I to support generator operations and maintenance in Fort Wayne. You'll work with electrical systems and diagnostic tools, requiring 2 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of generator experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with generator inspection, maintenance, and operations. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs, and you understand the importance of using OSHA standard safety equipment. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours and varying shifts.

Desirable

You have additional experience in maintaining generator systems or working in a construction or technical environment. Your background includes knowledge of data centers, hospitals, or power plants, and you are skilled in using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting with standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment. You are knowledgeable about generator systems used in data center environments, including engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems. You can effectively communicate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician I at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include performing major and minor repairs on engines, alternators, control panels, and electrical systems. You will also be involved in the startup, commissioning, and integration of new generator equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Your role will require you to utilize diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical failures and maintain the integrity of the systems.
