We are seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be comfortable working with a team of top-notch developers and collaborating with our engineering teams. We’re looking for people who innovate and love solving hard problems. Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer you will define, design, verify, and launch a novel drone delivery system. Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the systems engineering owner of key safety critical cloud based subsystems throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
- Lead interdisciplinary trade studies across Prime Air software, system, product, and regulatory functions to determine the critical requirements for a scalable cloud based system architecture.
- Generate key systems engineering artifacts CONOPs, design documents, interface control documents and requirements.
- Develop comprehensive requirements documentation that meets aviation certification standards while enabling rapid innovation
- Drive test plans, write test cases, generate automated test procedures and conduct formal verification.

A day in the life
The Senior Systems Engineer day begins by reviewing any relevant problem reports or feature requests from the Operations team. Following up on a new feature request, they pull together Operations, Safety, and Software stakeholders to design an enhancement to the currently fielded software system. Next, they spend a few hours deep diving failing scripted automated procedures to resolve a blocked pipeline on an upcoming development build. They then spend shift focus to designing the next major blockpoint upgrades, generating high quality feature designs in collaboration with other Systems, Software, and Scientists

Our culture is one of ownership and accountability - we take pride in our work and hold ourselves to the highest standards. - Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in full lifecycle Aerospace Systems Engineering.
- Proven ability to drive system design and analysis of safety critical systems.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs.- Masters degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Working experience with ARP 4754A, DO-178B/C, and/or DO-278C.
- Prior systems engineering ownership of communication, weather, and/or geospatial systems.
- Experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience in a production environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
