Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in live sports broadcasting or OTT operations, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role. Your comprehensive knowledge of streaming stacks, including ABR protocols like HLS and DASH, allows you to manage complex video delivery systems effectively. You possess a deep understanding of codecs such as H.264 and HEVC, and you are familiar with container formats and live DRM solutions. Your experience managing signal flow in live sports production environments has equipped you with the skills to handle high-pressure situations with ease.

You have a strong grasp of IP transmission standards, including SRT, Zixi, RTMP, and RTP, which enables you to ensure reliable and secure video streaming. Your background in working within a 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) or Master Control Room (MCR) has honed your incident management skills, allowing you to respond swiftly and effectively to any issues that arise during live broadcasts. You are adept at implementing robust security policies, including geo-blocking and token-based authentication, to protect high-risk broadcasts.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy building relationships with external stream providers to ensure compliance with video feed specifications and SLAs. Your analytical mindset drives you to lead root cause analysis (RCA) sessions after incidents, and you are committed to automating repetitive tasks through scripting to improve operational efficiency. You are passionate about enhancing the viewer experience and are always looking for data-driven improvements to the live streaming process.

What you'll do

As a Senior Live Video System Engineer at Coupang, you will take on the technical leadership role for live streaming operations, ensuring the stability and security of the video pipeline from source to screen. You will manage the entire lifecycle of live event signals, including cloud encoder setup and signal verification, while implementing redundancy plans to mitigate risks. In the event of live failures, you will act as the primary contact, calmly diagnosing and resolving issues across the source, encoder, CDN, and application layers.

You will build a comprehensive monitoring framework to proactively detect playback anomalies and drive data-based improvements. Your role will involve managing relationships with external stream providers, ensuring strict adherence to video feed specifications and SLAs. You will lead root cause analysis sessions following incidents, focusing on continuous improvement and automation of repetitive tasks through scripting.

You will implement and manage advanced security workflows that go beyond traditional DRM, including forensic watermarking and token-based authentication, while enforcing strict geo-blocking and VPN detection policies.
