This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Optical Science or related fields and relevant industry experience.

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, and you have a solid foundation in lens design fundamentals. With at least 3 years of relevant industry experience, you are well-versed in lens design metrology and integration, and you understand the intricacies of lens design tolerance and stray light analysis. Your proficiency in optical software packages such as ZEMAX, CODE V, FRED, or LightTool allows you to perform comprehensive optical and image quality characterization of lenses and camera modules. You are passionate about transforming innovative ideas into production-ready designs, and you thrive in collaborative environments where diverse perspectives lead to exceptional outcomes.

Desirable

A Master's or PhD in a related field would be advantageous, as would experience in lens characterization methodology and instrumentation. You are familiar with the latest advancements in optical engineering and are eager to apply your knowledge to create cutting-edge camera hardware for Apple products.

What you'll do

As an Optical System Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Camera Hardware Engineering group, responsible for the research, design, development, testing, and qualification of camera hardware. Your primary focus will be on developing and supporting custom lens designs that enhance the performance of Apple’s camera systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and product designers, to ensure that your optical designs meet the high standards expected by Apple customers.
