Apple is hiring an Electrical Lab Technician to assist the Sensing Hardware team with data collection, soldering, and rework. You'll work with electrical test equipment and scripting to support hardware development. This role requires proficiency in electrical engineering tasks and 4+ years of related experience.
You have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field, demonstrating proficiency with configuring and operating electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, function generators, and power supplies. Your soldering skills are certified to J-STD-001 or better, focusing on surface-mount microsoldering rework. You are familiar with basic circuit design, electrical schematics, and troubleshooting techniques, which allows you to effectively execute consumer electronics device test setup tasks. You are flexible and receptive to ideas from others, thriving in a team-oriented environment where collaboration with technologists and engineers is key to advancing technologies.
You possess the ability to compile results from data collection and are comfortable working in a lab environment on both new and repetitive tasks. Your experience includes making revisions and improvements to scripts written in Python, MATLAB, and bash, showcasing your technical skills in scripting and test automation. Additionally, you have familiarity with board layout design, which enhances your capability to contribute to hardware development projects.
While not required, experience with MacOS computers and digital productivity tools such as Numbers, Excel, and Keynote would be beneficial. Your background in operating metrology and test equipment, including Keyence and Instron systems, would further enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will join Apple’s Sensing Hardware team, where you will assist in creating a personal, physical connection for millions of customers around the world. Your primary responsibilities will include data collection, soldering, and rework, ensuring that the hardware meets the high standards expected by Apple. You will work closely with engineers and technologists to support the development of innovative sensing hardware solutions.
You will be actively involved in executing consumer electronics device test setups, collecting data, and compiling results to inform design improvements. Your proficiency with electrical test equipment will be crucial as you conduct tests and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the testing process. You will also be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and processes, ensuring that the team remains at the forefront of technology advancements.
