Job Description

Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced manufacturing facilities that will transform production at Amazon's scale. We're building revolutionary factory systems that combine cutting-edge automation, sophisticated process engineering, and advanced simulation modeling to create adaptable manufacturing solutions capable of meeting dynamic production demands. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of manufacturing and automation at an unprecedented scale, working with world-class teams pushing the boundaries of what's possible in factory design, process optimization, and production flow.

As a Principal Industrial Engineer, you will architect next-generation manufacturing systems and drive technical strategy. In this role, you will advance simulation technologies to architect, test, and validate manufacturing processes before implementation, ensuring maximum efficiency and scalability across our operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience optimizing large-scale manufacturing systems and leading transformational change in complex industrial environments. Working with a collaborative team of forward-thinking engineers, you'll blend strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise to design innovative production systems, mentor talented teams, and set new industry standards for operational excellence. Success in this role requires proven ability to drive technical innovation while building and leading high-performing teams that push the boundaries of what's possible in modern manufacturing.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive technical vision and strategy for advanced manufacturing systems across multiple facilities
- Spearhead the development and implementation of advanced simulation frameworks as a cornerstone of our manufacturing strategy, including digital twin technology and process optimization methodologies

- Lead architectural design for complex factory systems, establishing industry-leading technical standards
- Create governance frameworks and technical roadmaps for manufacturing system development
- Drive innovation in simulation modeling, digital twin technology, and process optimization methodologies
- Build and nurture high-performing engineering teams focused on continuous improvement - Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other related discipline
- Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering
- Experience leading large-scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, realizing customer benefits, and successful program completion
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams
- Demonstrated proficiency in simulation modeling and process optimization
- Exceptional strategic communication and executive presentation skills- PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent, or PhD
- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Global manufacturing innovation leadership experience
- Expertise in emerging manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 principles
- Experience developing technical talent and engineering excellence programs
- Advanced certification in manufacturing methodologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
